The Early Childhood Program focuses on helping children develop a strong self-image, a sense of independence and positive feelings about learning in a school setting. Even before the school year begins, the teacher visits each student in his or her own home. This helps the child transition to the school environment and helps the teacher understand the uniqueness of each child.
Each classroom has at least two teachers so children are sure to receive the supervision and attention they deserve. Teachers are also trained to recognize learning or behavioral differences so that early intervention can be rendered. Our youngest students also have access to our learning specialists and psychologist.
In class, listening skills, verbal skills, reading and math blend with conversational Hebrew, art, music and motor skills activities in a creative and interactive environment. Multi-sensory experiences enable children to question, reason, create and engage in meaningful interaction.
The Early Childhood Division:
- Develops listening and verbal skills
- Encourages reading and a love of literature through regular visits to our extensive library
- Builds a strong math foundation with puzzles, patterns and learning tools
- Teaches Hebrew and Jewish traditions daily through songs and activities
- Develops creativity through art, music, and Dalcroze eurhythmics
- Promotes health by engaging in large motor activities and physical education classes
